Stage 03 of 6 · your earliest bottleneck
Prospecting — “I've run out of people to talk to.”
The stage where most people stall. The warm list runs out, referrals dry up, and there is no system for what comes next — so activity stops.
Why this one first
This is the earliest stage your answers marked as broken, and that ordering matters. A problem here starves every stage after it, so fixing something downstream tends to produce no visible change at all. Everything after it — Contact, Follow-up, Conversion — stays capped until this is working.
Fix this first
Give yourself a defined daily action small enough that you will actually do it — a fixed number of new conversations started, counted. Consistency at a low number beats intensity followed by a gap.
You are probably in this stage if
- You have worked through everyone you know and the list is finished.
- You start each day not knowing who to contact.
- Your activity is sporadic: a burst, then nothing for a week.
- You are waiting for people to come to you.
What usually causes it
- Relying entirely on a warm market, which is finite by definition.
- No daily routine, so prospecting competes with everything else and loses.
- Measuring results instead of activity, which is demoralising when results lag.
- No supply of new people entering the top of the process.
What this stage is not
If you have plenty of people to talk to but freeze when it is time to message them, that is Contact.
